Be who you are and be it well.

What makes you, well you? Have you ever pondered your uniqueness?

Did you know that no two snowflakes are alike? Sure, they all look similar falling from the sky, but if we looked at them closely, we would be able to see their glorious differences. People are not far off from snowflakes. Each person has their own gifts and talents to share with the world.

We spend a lot of time growing up (or even as adults) trying to “fit in” or maybe more aptly “blend in“. Other people tell us who we should be and what we should be like. Huh? I don’t think I ever followed this. Ask my mom. She will tell you that “Sarah marches to the beat of a different drummer.” Is it ironic that I played percussion in high school?

I like wearing silly socks and matching my clothes/jewelry to the season. I sometimes say French words because I can’t think of the word in English. Having twinkle lights up all year is fantastic. Does that make me odd? To some, maybe.

I work in a small (but mighty), online company. Last week, I was dividing up tasks with one of my colleagues; based on what each of us are good at. I am really good at my area, and she is really good in hers. Think of it like a puzzle. On my own, I have my talents, as do my team members. Individually, we are pretty great, but together we are amazing! We fit together. When the whole team came together for a meeting, what I saw was the stunning masterpiece of creative, talented people.

St. Francis de Sales tells us to be who we are and be it well. I used to think that I had to do everything well to be great. I don’t. I thank God everyday for the smart, gifted people around me that are good at the things I am not. I need them and they need me to make our beautiful puzzle. Take a moment today and look at the people in your life. How do your talents compliment each other? I bet like peanut butter and jelly, because you stick together. 🙂

  1. Sarah, good morning…. 🌞
This is an absolutely necessary reminder for everyone. “Love letters” like this one, to start the day, ….mmmm….. makes me smiles…… puts everything in perspective……. sets the course! Merci beaucoup 😊🙏

  2. Sarah, you were expecting a comment – you are unique BECAUSE you marched to the beat of a different drummer. That makes you the wonderful, insightful person you are today. You often see what others don’t.

  3. I loved your insight, thank you for sharing! It is nice to know that the pressure we feel of being perfect can be replaced with the feeling of “I am enough”.
