Have you found what you are looking for?

That’s a loaded question for sure. You may be looking for your keys, your phone, your kid’s homework that they swear they have done, or your shoes…lol. Sometimes I spend lots of time looking for things that don’t really matter in the long run- that makes me pretty human. The Bible says ‘seek and you shall find’, right? What are you seeking?

I am reading Le Petit Prince with one of my classes. It’s been a few years since I have visited with my friend, and each time the lessons are the same, but the perspective is new. If you have never read it, a pilot gets stranded in the desert and meets the little prince. On his way to Earth, the little price has met all sorts of characters and learned all kinds of things.

The core of the story is a search for connection and understanding. Between the little prince and his rose and the pilot and the rest of the world. One flies the world and the other travels to many planets searching for something they can’t find anywhere, you guessed it: connection. Someone who understands them, a friend.

We all have a need for connection, to whom or what are you connecting? Are you seeking out others for friendship? Are you looking for it on social media? Are you cultivating your friendship with God? What is filling that need to connect?

In this season of my life, I am looking to connect with different groups of people in different types of activities. In each place or activity, we have something in common. I am being intentional about connecting with God though prayer and Bible study. I am still connected to friends I made while working remotely and am even looking forward to seeing some of them in person soon!

The little prince learns that “L’essential est invisible aux yeux”. (the essential things are invisible, you can’t see them with your eyes- they are felt in your heart) He understands that that he did have a friend but he left her. He has regrets.

I don’t want to have regrets, so as I read the book for the umpteenth time, I am reminded to pay attention to the relationships in my life. ALL of my relationships because they do not last forever. The only one that endures for all time is the one with Jesus.
