I remember a conversation I had with HR last summer and we were talking about the right time to let my boss know that I had a new job. I hadn’t signed the papers for the new job yet and I remember saying to HR- I just have to take a leap of faith that everything will work out.
It did work out. I did tell my boss and then transitioned to a new job the next month. There was certainly some uncertainty in my soul until the papers were actually signed, but I had to believe that all was well. I was ready to step into the next chapter.
Taking a leap of faith can be really scary and challenging. Sometimes resigning from a job can be the scariest thing you have done. What if you don’t have direction? Is it still ok? From my experience, I say yes. It’s worth taking the leap when the opportunity appears.
My word this year is brave. I have lots of opportunities to practice that. Just like all new things, there are new challenges in the new job. New curriculum to learn and personalities to discover. The past few months have brought me new relationships- colleagues and friends. It takes time to cultivate those ties, but it’s worth the effort.
I’m taking a fun class just for me and sometimes it seems out of my reach, but it stretches me in really good ways. Meeting new people is a little scary, but I do believe that God brings the right people into our lives at the right time. I have wonderful new people in my life that challenge me in different ways. I am fortunate in so many ways.
There is more to come this year and I have to keep reminding myself that it’s worth taking the risk to try something new, meet new people, have different adventures. What about you? Is this the year that you decide to try something new and different? Take a leap of faith and see what happens. I am betting something more wonderful than you could have imagined.
