I admit to struggling sometimes to know how or what to pray for. The past month has been a rollercoaster of joys and sadness, happy occasions in the same breath as sad. Feeling overwhelmed with ‘all the things’ can almost feel normal. Have you ever been in that spot? What do you do?
I was sitting in church over the weekend, feeling lots of things, when they read the scripture about the Holy Spirit groaning. The Holy Spirit at times feels like a puzzle to me- you don’t see it or even hear words from it, it’s a sound, yet the Holy Spirit is my helper.
When I don’t have the words to pray, I ask the Holy Spirit for guidance and to intercede for me. I allow the Spirit to pray for me, because in that particular moment, I just can’t. I may be sad or even angry with a situation and I cannot think of a resolution or solution so I give it over.
Giving it over and letting go does not mean that I will get an answer right away, but it can bring me a sense of peace in the moment, a feeling that I am not alone. It may feel like we are alone at different moments but we are not. We have the Holy Spirit and our guardian angels to guide and comfort us.
The next time you feel like you can’t pray, call on the Holy Spirit. He won’t fail you.
