Happy New Year! Sometimes I am sad to see the year end, and other years, I am delighted. A new year comes with new possibilities, a fresh start if you need one, and the promise of the goodness to come.
So today I am pondering unexpected gifts or blessings. Just this week, I have received several. I crack myself up sometimes when unexpected blessings come into my life. I know they do, I enjoy blessing others, so why am I surprised when I am blessed?
One experience happened on Monday and I was grateful, humbled even by someone’s kindness. They did not know that I needed it (or maybe they did!) but it came at just the right moment. Yesterday, the very last day of the year, I received three more unexpected blessings. Four in 24 hours? What a way to end the year.
When I finally went to bed last night after all the celebrating, all I could think of is, God is truly bigger than all my worries, fears, and problems. He will always bless me and ensure that I am taken care of. I can then strive to be a blessing to others.
Who can I bless today? Maybe this post is the reminder that you need to stop and ponder the blessings in your life. Maybe it is the reminder that you can act as God’s agent of blessing in someone else’s life. Whatever the place you find yourself in today, please remember that 364 days from now, you will be in a different place. God’s mercy and blessings are everywhere, we just have to look!
