In any season of my life I can be grateful for something. It seems like the readings I have heard lately have centered on God working in people’s lives. That’s really what this blog is all about- how God works in my life and what I see in the world. Does it seem too good to be true? Maybe you need to believe that God can work and move in your life today.
At the beginning of summer, I was a bit discouraged. I knew it was time to move on from where I was, I had travelled that road as far as I could go. I had no place to go to and my job search seemed stalled. Out of the blue, a position popped up and 48 hours later I had a job offer. It wasn’t what I thought, or even what I had been looking for, but it turned out to be the right one.
What I couldn’t see at the time was that I was waiting for the perfect job for me. All the interviews and dashed hopes in the preceding months left me knowing that if that interview didn’t work out, something else would. The other part I couldn’t see was all the people praying for me and working on my behalf behind the scenes. God often works through people, and my friend called another friend, who called the person who interviewed me. I am grateful.
I recently celebrated a birthday with a zero on the end of it. My dear friends organized a party complete with surprises and surprise guests. I looked around the room and realized that I have known all the people in the room for half my life and they have each contributed in making my life richer and more interesting.
A party with fun people is gift enough, but wait, there’s more. I was moved by the thoughtfulness and generosity of my friends. Giving gifts is one of my top love languages and I felt very loved. It was truly a shower of unexpected blessings. It should not have been a surprise since each person there has been a blessing to me many times over through the years.
I am a firm believer that you reap what you sow. If you sow kindness and give generously, it will come back to you. Keep an eye out, God’s kindness and generosity will surprise you too if you take the time to look around.
May you experience God’s peace and blessings this week. 🙂
