Life is quite an interesting journey. Lately I have been pondering the saying “God doesn’t call the qualified, He qualifies the called.” I’m sure that everyone has asked themselves that question at some point or other, and one year ago, I sat in a church and God asked me to do something. Start a blog.
If you know me, you will know that I resisted and said it was crazy. I didn’t know anything about writing a blog, who would read it, or even how to set one up. Once I decided to take the leap, it took me a few weeks and many frustrating hours attempting to figure out how the site works (set up in 30 minutes the tutorial claims…..um 3 hours later….) but I did it and it went live two weeks later.
Does every first year teacher think on the first Friday of the school year: “I am not prepared for this.”? Probably. Classes and even observations do not prepare you for what actually happens when you shut the door and start teaching on your own- with no one watching. You can’t know in advance what the students will throw at you; literally and figuratively, but you figure it out and keep going, for many years if possible.
When I was given a promotion in my current company, I looked at the job description and thought. “There is no way that I can do all that”. Funny thing- I was already doing most of it. It wasn’t a huge leap, it was more of a yes, and? sort of situation.
God doesn’t put limits on us. We put them on ourselves. We decides that we are not worthy, not qualified in the situation where we find ourselves. God never gives us more than we can handle and even when it looks like it’s not going to work out, somehow it does.
In every situation that I have faced, there is always a way through it. I may not like it, and it usually takes longer than I want, but I was already set up for the outcome. I have the skills, connections, strength, passion, and ability to do what I am called to do. It’s time to take a breath and realize this is true. God’s got this- I don’t need a death grip on it.
You may have a circumstance in your life right now that feels out of control. If that is the case, take some time today and look at it, think about the set up to that circumstance, how you are navigating it, and where it is possibly going, then take off the limits. The answer is not an “if” statement, it’s a “when” statement. It’s going to work out. Just for today, believe that the best is coming to you. You’ve got this.
