Do you have a favorite day?

Who has a favorite day? Is it a holiday? Christmas? Easter? Maybe your birthday? I happen to really like my birthday. Lot’s of people do not, and that’s ok for you, but don’t kill my joy!

I am a self proclaimed birthday lover! (I will celebrate your birthday too…lol) I mean, I wake up on my birthday, and that’s the best gift ever! Each year, I take a few moments to reflect on how the year went and what I learned.

Am I getting wiser as I get older? I certainly hope so! As we all know well, it’s easier to see a situation from farther away than when we are in it. The lessons are not easy to see when you are still wading through. It’s on the other side where I can say “Oh, THAT’s why this relationship/situation/job choice did not work out”. In every moment that we are in relationship with others, there are two sides, and having more candles on my cake means that I more easily see the other side (or at least can understand it).

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about God’s perspective in my relationship with Him. It’s really easy to ask God why when I can’t see all the pieces. It does occur to me from time to time that by not receiving exactly what I want, God is leading me in the direction that I should be going, showing me the purpose for which He created me. See? I’m wiser already!

My birthday perspective is always “What a wonderful day!” and really that should be my thought every day. So this year, that will be one of my thoughts each day, to see the good in every day, because there is good in every day.

Today is a good day. It’s not my birthday today, but someone is celebrating today. Let’s all celebrate together! 🙂
