When you are facing challenges, where do you turn?
Everyone’s life looks shiny and perfect on social media. Life isn’t like that. It’s not a movie where everything turns out perfectly. We live our lives in the imperfect, messy, day to day grind. It’s filled with laundry, commutes, meal-prep, arguments, and beautiful, silent moments when the kids are sleeping.
As I look around this week, I see challenges and struggles in the lives of those I know and those I don’t. I wonder about (and pray for) those who don’t believe that anyone can help. When you are broken, how do you get put back together?
There is a Japanese art called Kintsugi. When a piece of pottery gets broken, it doesn’t get thrown away. It is put back together with gold and becomes more beautiful and precious because of it’s cracks and flaws.
God is the potter and we are the clay. When we are broken, challenged, sad, and struggling, this is the moment that we need to ask God to “put us back together”. You can’t go through life and never get a little “cracked”. It’s when we get knocked down that we have the opportunity to learn, mend, and become stronger and more resilient than we were before.
I may be a little “cracked” but my mended places make me stronger. Ask God today to mend your broken places. You may be surprised at the results- you become a priceless work of art.
I loved this reflection and I couldn’t agree more. We easily break and God tenderly puts us back together again and heals are wounds. He understands. Thank you for the gentle reminder, as well…. God is the potter and we are the clay.
