What are you looking for in 2026?

The readings at the beginning of the year focus on the human manifestation of Jesus and the pivot to his pubic ministry. To me, this is so that as we begin a new year, we are connecting to the human side of God. We celebrated Jesus’ birth and baptism. It’s hard not to love a baby.

Being human is a challenge. You know that. We don’t always live from logic. We have so many emotions and they can get overwhelming at times and appear in different ways. For example, I cry when I get frustrated. The funny thing about that is then I get more frustrated!

Hearing and pondering the stories of Jesus’ life/ministry helps me see him as a person, with a family, friends, and emotions. He regularly took time to spend in prayer to connect and be with God his father. I imagine that it helped him with his earthly relationships. I know spending time in prayer helps me with my relationships.

If you haven’t guessed the answer to the question above, it’s connection. I walked through some new doors in 2025. I’m looking for connection with people in my life, looking to cultivate and nurture relationships, and continue to seek God in all places and people. (not an easy task for sure).

The honest truth is that we are all in a different spot on our faith journey. I may be farther along than you, but there are certainly people farther along than me. Wherever you are is exactly where you are supposed to be. If you are in a difficult season or a joyful season, that’s the current season. We go through all seasons. Not all at once I hope, but we have different cycles of life.

So whatever your season in life, be where you are. In this moment, how can you connect better with others? With God? Take some time this week to think about how to better connect in all aspects of your life.

  1. This was such a thoughtful read. I really love your perspective on ‘being where you are’ regardless of the season you’re in. Even though I’m on a different path regarding faith, I have so much respect for how you use your prayer and reflection to show up better for the people in your life. It’s a beautiful way to look at the world
