I don’t normally start with the Bible verse- that usually comes at the end, after all my thoughts are out in the universe. This one begins with me reading the Bible quote app the other day and thinking- What have you done already today God? What will I be thankful for later?
The version of the Bible I normally read for Psalm 118:24 says; This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad. The version I read the other day said The LORD has done it this very day; let us rejoice today and be glad. A different version turned that right around for me!
My thoughts on the first one are “ok, I have heard it a thousand times, yes, I’m glad” for the second one, I felt like: “Wow, God’s already done it, now I don’t have to worry.” It somehow made my day lighter to read a different translation.
Word choice matters, we all know that. I enjoy reading the Bible in French for that very reason. The word choice and flow is different, not better, but my understanding of the passage/story/prayer can vary depending on the language it’s in.
The language “the Lord has done it” takes the stress and the pressure off me. If God is already done and I am beginning my day, it’s going to be a great day! I have read this every day this week and thanked God in advance of all the wonders that He is continually working in my life.
Today I encourage you to read the verse as written below and believe that God has done it, and the all the stress/worries/problems are not your to handle. Have a great day! 🙂
