What happens when you feel stuck?

Life is interesting and people are fascinating. Do you feel that way? Are you like me and have different groups of people that you see each week? Lately, it seems like there is a theme across groups, and the conundrum is “What does God want me to do?”.

This is a fantastic question and we should absolutely ask it. But I think the “feeling stuck” part comes when you know you should be doing something but you are ‘waiting on God to answer you‘ so you do nothing. Does that seem like a good plan?

It would be a great plan if a voice from heaven just declared what I should do, where I should go, or who I should meet. Even better if the directions are clear and precise. That never happens to me- the times I have heard God talk to me, it was more like a feeling and it wasn’t always direct. We can’t all be Moses standing in front of a burning bush and God is speaking directly.

Everyone is in a different stage of life, some have small kids, some adult kids, or even grandkids, are looking to retire or change jobs. Here is the part I find interesting. How do you know where God is calling you if you never explore the options or leave your bubble? What if the direction is shown to you when you try something new? Maybe that’s what God is actually asking you to do.

We are in a relationship with our Creator. This means that we play a part too. Yes, I want to know that I am doing the right thing and going in the right direction. What if I have to go the wrong direction to end up where I need to be?

A circular conversation for sure. At the heart of the matter is that most people wrestle with the question of God’s will in their lives at some point or another. It’s what they do about is what counts. If you are waiting for God to tell you, you may be waiting for Godot. (FYI- Godot never show up).

God does show up. More often than we think, but while we are waiting for the right answers to arrive, why not start moving in the direction of where you would like to be and see what happens? I think you may arrive and realize God was waiting for you there all along.
